Smoke Season ended 2017 with the release of their brand new single ‘Wolves’ and this year they plan to release more music and gain more fans around the world.
Here we speak exclusively to the duo about ‘Wolves’, tour plans and new album;
What inspired your latest single, ‘Wolves’?
We wanted to capture passion in a relationship that transforms itself from passionate fights to passionate make-ups.
What do you hope listeners take from the track?
We want them to feel like animals.
How much fun did you have filming the video for ‘Wolves’?
We drove to Vegas and hung out in the ‘Old Vegas’ scene on Fremont street – admittedly got a little too drunk and wild that night. We also made friends with a donkey in the middle of nowhere desert, right outside the city. Good times.
Talk us through the video’s treatment?
Dusty neon lust, mixed with a shot of bourbon told through an 8mm camera.
How much do you feel visuals add to the track?
They’re a companion to the music, it’s sort of like synesthesia, where you see different colors when listening to a song. We want the visuals to compliment and be harmonious to what your ears are taking in.
What do you hope to achieve with the ‘Wolves’ single and video?
For the single, we want people to tap into their inner wild and let loose a bit. Within the video, we wanted to capture both debauchery of a wild night as well as seamlessly normalize trans beauty. Our amazing friend, Luna Lovebad, blessed the video with her presence acting as Gabrielle’s love interest. We felt so lucky to have her on-board and even luckier to have a platform to further demonstrate romance and beauty comes in every package.
Do you have any tour plans lined up?
We have a lot of really exciting things in the works, but our lips are sealed.
Will you be releasing an album soon?
Our lips are sealed. Let’s just say this next phase is going to be our most exciting yet.
