Nowadays, the music industry is so full of bright spotlights and races to the top spot that it is difficult to find genuine musicians who only care about two things: their artistry and the fans who got them to where they are today. Country singer Spencer Crandall is definitely one of these musicians. He is an asset to the music scene and with the winning combination of a big heart and a huge lot of talent, he is sure to have a long and rewarding career ahead of him.
In just over three years, Spencer has managed to find what many artists spend years looking for. He has succeeded in developing original music which he creates from his heart, he has discovered the most relevant platform through which he shares his passion for music, and he has managed to build a very respectable name for himself as more and more people are drawn to his genuine personality and in turn, his raw talent.
Spencer is a very skilled singer and songwriter who has already written and recorded a five song EP and an additional mixtape project, as well as releasing several original songs and covering some of the most iconic songs in music for his ever-growing number of fans. He has already racked up quite a large following with over seventy-one thousand followers on Twitter and over one hundred and ten thousand followers on Instagram, and this is due to his authenticity and his ability to connect with his fans on such a personal level.
Now, Spencer is heading into a bright future. With some of the biggest producers and artists wanting to work with him, an army of dedicated fans supporting his every move, and real music on his heart, we don’t see things slowing down for him any time soon. This is good though, because the Colorado native doesn’t seem to want to slow down any time soon either. Following tours with Chris Lane and Tyler Rich, he has big plans to tour the country and record a full-length debut album. We reckon he’ll have no problem fulfilling his dreams and we are thrilled to have recently had the opportunity to find out more about the man behind the voice.
Check out what he had to say to us, right here:
What inspired you to choose, “Do It All Again,” as your latest single?
“I think this song resonates with anyone who has been in love at a young age. I think everyone who has gone through that before has those moments of wanting to relive the past and this song tells the story of that. It’s my way of telling that story, by giving my perspective on wanting a second chance.”
You’re a very talented songwriter, but where do you pull your biggest inspirations from when you want to write a new song?
“I pull inspiration from my own life. Every song I have written has a personal twist on my story and I think that’s what makes writing songs so cool. I get to weave my life into a catchy melody which is the best therapy that I never have to pay for… I also draw inspiration from other great songwriters. Nashville is filled with incredible writers and they inspire me every time I’m in the room with them!”
Who were your biggest musical influences when you were growing up?
“I loved country music growing up, so guys like Garth, Kenny, and Tim McGraw all were huge for me. Outside of country music, guys like John Mayer and Ed Sheeran and bands like Switchfoot and Needtobreathe have been huge influences.”
And if you could collaborate with any other artist in the world, who would it be?
“Justin Timberlake. He’s my boy.”
Over the years, you have done some incredible covers of songs. Which one has been your favourite to cover and why?
“My favourite song I have ever covered is, “I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You,” because it’s just so timeless and it just puts a smile on my face.”
Have you always known that you wanted to be a musician? If not, what else did you want to be?
“I always knew I wanted to entertain people. Music has been a newer dream in my life, but I know without a doubt that it’s what I want to do for the rest of my life. If I wasn’t going into music, I would probably be an actor. My dream job was to be on Saturday Night Live, so now my goal in life is to host and be the musical guest in the same night at Saturday Night Live.”
What do you think it is that sets you apart from other country singers?
“I think my ability to connect with people. I love meeting new people and sharing my stories. I never want to feel like I’m some disconnected artist on a stage that people pay money to see and that’s it. I want my shows to feel like I’m one of your best friends and we’re all just hanging out and partying together. My favourite part of my career so far has been connecting and engaging with people who are checking out my music!”
You interact with your fans a lot on social media, which we love, but have you ever had any crazy fan experiences?
“Not really! All of my fans rock. They give me so much love, but also give me room to breathe and to be a normal twenty-two year old. It’s awesome!”
You also go above and beyond to do nice things for your fans, but what is the nicest thing a fan has ever done for you?
“I seriously can’t stress enough how much I appreciate my fans! They have driven over six hours to see my shows, made posters, birthday cards, and personalized bracelets… They rock SO HARD!?”
What are your plans for the rest of this year?
“Play shows, connect with fans, keep posting covers, and hopefully get some new music out by the end of spring!”
Finally, do you have a message for your fans?
“I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH! If you haven’t already, come out to a show and party with us!”
