Indie-pop trio The Tailormade are a fast rising band who have made substantial noise withing the UK’s ‘underground’ music circuit after being discovered, and winning the hearts of the public and a host of celebrities whilst busking in various tube stations across London.
The group have now released their brand new single ‘Mr Perfect‘ and here we speak exclusively to The Tailormade about their new music, musical inspirations, touring plans and much, much more;
Growing up who inspired your love of music?
We were inspired by a range of different music from real Brit Pop and Indie, So Oasis, Jamie T, Arctic Monkeys to the likes of Eminem and Otis Redding. We love all different kinds of music.
How did you all meet?
We all met at university whilst studying non music related courses, at the end of the three years we did it like any student who didn’t want a job did and went travelling before moving to London to start the band. Best decision of our lives.
How did the band name come about?
We were chatting in the pub about what our name could be and we all liked dressing well and putting our spin on covers and a guy suggested The Tailormade. We were sold and it’s stuck with us ever since.
How does the groups dynamic work while recording new music?
It’s great. We have a real laugh in the studio and everyone’s really supportive, the amount of vocal takes we have to do are unreal but everyone is cheering you on even if you make mistakes…which happens quite a lot. We order lots of food and drink lots of green tea.
Do you plan on releasing an album this year?
An album probably not, but never say never. We’ve got so much music we want to show the world but don’t want to rush it so we think we’ll release a few singles and work out what goes down well and keep writing.
Do you have any tour plans lined up?
We’re hoping to get out on tour later on in the year and festival seasons approaching as well so we’re looking forward to getting out and gigging again.
If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?
We’ve all agreed on this one and it would be Ed Sheeran. He’s the absolute hit maker and we think working together would be amazing. Either him or Stormzy. He’s so good at what he does, we’d love him to freestyle and sing some soul on one of our tracks.
What are your 2018 career goals?
We’re just excited to finally release new music and start building our fan base. We’re lucky enough to be in a position where we get to do what we love every single day so to continue making music is the dream.
