Terrell Ransom Jr. is young but don’t let that fool you, with seven years on Days of our Lives, a new single, and the hit animated The Amazing World of Gumball under his belt he’s done it all.
CelebMix was able to sit down with this teen trailblazer for an exclusive chat.
1. What makes The Amazing World of Gumball such a hit?
The Amazing World of Gumball is one of the best cartoons out there! It’s very colorful and fun. It is also very different from most animated shows, especially since some aspects of the show seem very real and while others are animated. Plus I love how creative it is, like how the cops are donuts. It’s hilarious too! Everyone will find something funny in each and every episode. Most families can relate to the Wattersons too; it’s just a really great show that the entire family can enjoy together.
2. You’ve worked on Days of Our Lives. Tell us about the experience on that?
Yes, I played the role of Theo Carver for seven years. Days of Our Lives was one of the best acting experiences I have had so far. I basically grew up on the show, so the cast and crew were really like my family. I loved my TV parents, Renee Jones and James Reynolds, who were like my second set of parents. I always had a great time on set working, especially when I got to work with other kids.
3. Do you enjoy voiceover work more or acting more?
I really love doing both. Voiceovers are definitely easier. I can go in to the studio and record episodes in my pajamas if I want too. I record my lines for that episode and then I’m done. Acting involves more work because I need to to memorize my lines, work with other people, and film scenes. I have gotten to work on some really great projects, both voiceover and acting, and I have met some great people and made amazing memories, so it’s hard to choose one or the other.
4. Tell us about the Jonathan Foundation and why you work with that charity?
I have learned that there are a lot of kids and teens with learning disabilities that are not getting treated fairly by teachers in school or receiving the type of education they really need. Sadly, some are also being bullied by teachers and kids because they are different or learn differently. The Jonathan Foundation has done and continues to do so much for these families by getting them into the right type of schools or educational programs, or providing funding or resources that they need. The Jonathan Foundation is changing lives for the better and that’s why I love being a Youth Ambassador for the foundation.
5. What would be your dream project or person to work with?
My dream is to be a lead superhero in a Marvel movie series like The Avengers or a Jedi role in a Star Wars movie. I hope that I get the chance to work with Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Jennifer Lawrence in the future. They are all amazing actors and have all been in movies that I absolutely love.
6. Plans for the future?
I have a secret project that is in the works, so stay tuned! But right now, I just want to continue doing what I love, which is acting, doing voiceovers, singing, and making YouTube videos, as long as I can.
