Torii Wolf is a fast rising singer/songwriter from the US. Her stock is rapidly rising in America and she recently premiered her brand new single ‘Free‘ featuring superstars Macklemore, and DJ Premier. The track is the first to be lifted off Wolf’s upcoming debut EP ‘Flow Riiot‘ which will be released this Friday.
Here we speak exclusively to Torii Wolf about her musical icons, dream collaborations, working with DJ Premier and much, much more;
Growing up who inspired your love of music?
Growing up my parents really inspired my love for music and dancing and singing together around the house like happy babies together.
Who are your musical icons?
I have so many musical icons. Some of my very top of the list of icons would be Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Buddy Holly, Jonsi of Sigur Ros and Karin Dreijer Andersson of Fever Ray.
If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?
I would love to collaborate with The Weeknd and Nicolas Jaar.
What has it been like working with DJ Premier?
Working with DJ Premier has been one of the best experiences of my life so far. I have learned so much about life in general just from being so close with him creatively.
What can fans expect from your EP?
I hope that people can feel the freedom within themselves to go deeper within and become more in touch with the raw emotion that is encapsulated in this EP.
Are you planning on touring soon?
I do have every intention of performing live around the world, I feel very passionately about bringing life to every single record in a setting with real human contact.
What do you hope to achieve over the next ten years?
Within the next ten years I hope to keep climbing and growing. Collaborating with all different souls and sounds connecting with the world on deeper levels through music. I hope to give a platform for people to feel comfortable in who they are and how they feel on the inside.
