The Wandering Hearts are one of the most exciting country, folk, Americana bands from the UK. They have recently released their debut number 1 Country album ‘Wild Silence‘ and have a huge year ahead of them as they build on their already massive success.
Here we speak exclusively to The Wandering Hearts about their debut success, upcoming tour, UK country scene, and much, much more;
You have recently released your debut album, how does it feel to finally have the record out there?
It feels great! We are so proud of this album and each song means something to us. It’s an amazing feeling to have our music out there for everyone to hear.
How are you finding the response so far?
We have had an overwhelming response to the album so far – from comments on social media to incredible reviews – and to be number 1 on the UK country albums chart is unbelievable. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought our album. We cannot wait to get on tour and meet you all!
Your musical style seems to be a mix of country and pop with a dash of folk, so is that the overall flavour of the LP?
We each have influences from rock n roll to folk to blues to Americana to country to pop so The Wandering Hearts sound is a good mix of all of these genres.
With the rise of UK country you have chosen the right time to arrive on the scene, how do you feel you fit into UK country landscape?
It’s all about the storytelling and the truth in the lyric for us. We’ve been very fortunate to have been welcomed into the UK country scene. Our first festival was C2C at the O2 in London and the crowd was so supportive and made us feel right at home. We didn’t set out to be a country band as such but we’ve been lucky to meet and work with incredible people who have been a great support and we’ve shared unforgettable experiences.
Along with the release of your debut album you’re also touring over the next few months, what can fans expect from your shows?
We are playing some new tracks from the album that people won’t have heard live before, as well as our singles, but we also may have a few additions to the band…watch this space!
Do you have any pre-show rituals before you go on stage?
We will do a vocal warm up and take 10 minutes for some quiet time to get in the zone along with a little gin and tonic! It’s really important that we are all in tune with each other mentally before a show.
Which city are you most excited about visiting?
Glasgow. We have played there a few times and we seem to get such a lovely reception there! A great night out is guaranteed!
With the constant change in the music industry how are you planning for long term success?
I think it’s about being aware of what we have control over and what we don’t. It’s about staying true to who we are and concentrating on songwriting. Working hard and performing to our best ability and being nice people. If we can do that, hopefully the rest will take care of itself!
What are your long term career plans?
To still be doing this! Writing songs and celebrating all the achievements…and maybe world domination?!
