While managing her studies and music, Alli Haber is working hard for her dreams. It is her perseverance that is now helping her achieve her goals, one at a time. In collaboration with Frankie Jonas, Haber has released the music video for her debut single “Too Young”. Describing the stage of life she finds herself in, Alli’s lyrics show the value love holds. At the same time, she urges her friends and other people to maintain their youth. After all, it’s our young heart that makes us feel alive when things don’t seem to work in our favour.
2018 was a great year for Alli. In addition to writing and recording Too Young, Alli jumped on the Northeast leg of the Boys Of Summer Tour and had the honour of taking the First Night Boston NBC10 stage on New Year’s Eve. 2019 has loads of exciting new projects ahead including writing and recording more music with Frankie and touring. In an interview with CelebMix, she talks about her new song and much more. Check out the interview below:
Please tell our readers a bit about yourself.
I’m a 15-year-old singer living in Boston, MA. I’ve been singing ever since I can remember and have also been spending time on songwriting and piano. When I’m not doing music, I’m hanging out with my friends and family.
When we talk to artists who pursue music as a full-time profession, we often talk about the struggles they face as professionals. As a student who has to manage studies and music together, what kind of challenges do you face while pursuing your dream?
I’m a sophomore in high school and I take school seriously so it can be tough at times managing a full workload of homework with all the hours I put into my music. I work hard so that I can make it all work and at the end of the day, I get to do what I love so I feel really lucky.
Congratulations for “Too Young”. How has been the response for the song?
Thank you so much! The response so far has been amazing. Better than I ever could have imagined. We’ve been getting a lot of great reviews. I couldn’t be happier.
How did you feel when you finally got the chance to showcase your original work to the world?
It was definitely scary for me to put out my first original song but at the same time, I was excited. I was most nervous about how people would react but all the feedback has been so positive so in the end, I felt great.
The song seems to showcase a positive outlook on life. How did you come up with the concept/narrative for the song?
The concept for Too Young has kicked around in a writing session and we all immediately loved the message of the song. It was very much a collaborative process and we wanted to write about something upbeat, relatable and meaningful. The song quickly developed from that point on and the lyrics and melodies just came to life.
We absolutely loved the music video and the message that the single tries to convey. Please tell us about the creative process that went behind creating the single.
Thank you so much! Too Young was written as an anthem for youth to live in the moment, be free and embrace all the positive things about being young, despite negativity from others. It’s all about celebrating and empowering our upcoming generation. We live in a world that is so full of judgement so it’s especially important to realize that self-empowerment starts with you.
We put a lot of thought into the video and how to best incorporate the message. We also wanted the feeling of happiness and living in the moment to come across. There were a lot of great people involved and seeing it all come together was such a blast. I loved being part of it and am so happy with how it turned out.
We would also like to know about your experience of working with Frankie Jonas. As a co-writer and a producer of the track, how did the collaboration come about?
I loved working with Frankie. He is a really talented producer and an all-around awesome person. I feel like he brought out the best in me and working with him was super easy and collaborative.
We read about Boys of the Summer Tour. How has been the touring experience?
Boys of Summer Tour 2018 was such a fun experience. I loved being on the road with the other artists and influencers and meeting so many great people. Having the opportunity to perform for hundreds of people every day was the best.
Would you like to share with us your future projects or endeavours?
I am actually heading to LA next week to start working on some new music. I’ll be joining the Boys of Summer Tour this summer throughout the West Coast. I have more writing lined up with Frankie. All in all, I’m super excited about what 2019 has in store for me.
