At only age 15, Brynn Cartelli became the youngest person ever to win The Voice. She won with Kelly Clarkson as her coach. Cartelli went on to release her first single, “Walk My Way,” which she just performed at the Macy’s Day Parade! Cartelli is set to open for Kelly Clarkson on her Meaning of Life Tour, which kicks off January 24th in Oakland, CA. CelebMix had the chance to chat with Cartelli about her excitement opening for Kelly Clarkson and what a crazy year this has been for her!

You’ve had an insanely crazy busy year this year. What’s the one moment you think stands out for you the most?

Thank you! I’m so so lucky. Obviously the whole show was a crazy, incredible experience. But I just performed live at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and that was such a dream come true. I will never forget it.

You’re going on tour next year with Kelly Clarkson, have you processed that through your mind yet?

I’ve known about it for a while, but the day we announced it to the public is when it became real to me. I have LITERALLY had dreams of being on a big stage with Kelly. I am just so honored to be included in this tour, and I am so excited to share this experience with two queens (Kelly and Kelsea Ballerini).

You recently released the music video for “Walk My Way,” what was filming that like?

I am a very visual artist and have always been interested in film and creative directing. Even on the Voice, I was very involved in what the stage looked like for my performances. For the Walk My Way shoot, I had a clear vision on what I wanted it to be: not very glitz and glam because that’s not me. I still see myself as a small town girl, so I wanted to make the video as personal as possible. Lucky for me, I had an amazing team of directors and camera-men who understood and added to my vision with their own incredible talent. The whole shoot lasted 13 hours and boy was it tiring!! Haha. I am so proud of how the video came out… and I’m so excited to make more!!

You also performed in the Macy’s Day Parade! How was that?

I could not feel my thumbs but I loved every second of it. Singing live was nerve-racking, but I am so glad I did.

Can fans expect a full album before tour?

Not a full album, but they should expect new music from me before I head out on the road.

Are you watching this season of The Voice?

A little bit. I go onto YouTube and watch the performances back.

    Any advice to contestants?

My advice to the current contestants is to put yourselves down a lane, without keeping yourself in a box. Honestly that’s my advice to artists in general. It’s so important to connect to people that listen to many different artists and genres.

What’s your favorite thing about the holidays?

Decorating the Christmas tree with my family is the best.

Finally, what’s one goal you want to accomplish next year?

Oh gosh, I have so many visions and ideas for next year. 2019 is going to be a good one, I can already feel it. My goal is to stay humble, stay honest, and to create and perform some killer music.
