Pop trip OBB are back! The band return with their new single ‘7 Billion’ and official music video. The latest track follows the release of their 2018 EP ‘Is This A Thing’.
Here we chat exclusively to OBB to discuss their new music and staying current:
After the release of your EP last November, how does it feel to be back with new music in 2019?
We are super pumped about all the new music we will be releasing in 2019. Our first release, “7 Billion” is very personal to us and we are so proud that it’s our first release for 2019. How do you feel your music has changed/progressed over the past few years?
Over the past few years a lot has changed. We all have grown up a lot. You will hear that if you listen to our earlier music. When we started in music we were kids. We’ve done a lot of growing up and I think our music has as well. Have you felt a need to stay “current” what with the way the industry is constantly changing?
I would imagine we will always want to stay “current” with our music. It’s important to us to write about stuff that we are dealing with. We have always felt that if we are going through something, chances are other people are too. So while we are staying true to who we are we want to always be mindful of what’s happening around us.
How would you describe the overall vibe of your new single to new listeners?
7 Billion is a pop song with some R&B feel and even a hint of some electronic elements
What are you hoping fans take from the track?
[We] hope that every person, all 7 Billion of us, will love appreciate having someone in our life that makes everything else fade away.
What was the writing process like for this single?
My brothers and I wrote this song with our great friends Josh Bromolow and Benji Cowart. I really think every time we all get together we get something great. When we went into the writing session, I had just told my brothers that I wanted to write a song about being in Love. That my wife understands and “gets” all my “quirks”. Its actually funny because when we actually sang it for the recording, we thought about trying to find another word, but quirks really just summed it up.
What are you hoping to achieve with this release?
[We] hope in releasing this song is that it will resonate with people and become a favorite soon
