Office Girls are a new UK band taking the internet by storm.
Their video for their debut single ‘Dirty Work’ has already racked up more than 30,000 views and they currently have more than 2,000 Twitter followers.
The group is made up of five girls, Miss Nova, Miss Bombshell, Miss Dime Diva, Miss Mocha and Miss Vixen.
I was lucky enough to catch up with the rising stars for a chat about their song, dream collaboration and what the future holds for ‘Office Girls’.
How did you all meet?
We met in a galaxy far far away! No seriously we each auditioned separately for Office Girls and we met for the first time about 9 months ago.
What made you decide to join a band?
We want to change the world! Music and fame will give us a platform to do that! Plus we love to sing:)
Your single is doing well but there are rumours you will be dropped, why is that?
DD: I think BossCharlie was trying to scare us. We have been a little lacking in getting on Twitter and just social media in general, we just have so much to do with recording , rehearsing, dancing but it is so important these days. We do love talking to our fans though any way can. Deep down Charlie loves us and I think we are here to stay:)
There are a lot of strong girl bands out there at the moment, what do you think you can offer to the market?
We offer the market honesty and truth. There is nothing “PC” about us. What you see is what you get. We are just like our fans, only we have been given the amazing opportunity to trade our desk for the stage and hopefully people will see themselves in us. We are not perfect, we have insecurities, boyfriend problems, we worry about our weight, we worry about success, about having money and everything else. We don’t pretend to be perfect and we don’t hide that. Our music is just like us . It’s real , it’s fun, it’s hopeful and it makes you feel good to be alive and thats so lacking right now when you listen to the radio. It’s the stuff everybody secretly loves to listen to. We like to say “we are putting the POP back into pop music”
Describe your sound in three words?
Miss Dime Diva and Bombshell:Fun, Fun and Fun.
Vixen: I would say Return Of POP !!
What are your earliest memories of music?
Miss Dime Diva: I came out of the womb singing
Bombshell: Singing has always comforted me, especially when I first came to earth, those were dark times! I’ve even sung with the king and queen from Belgium! That’s cool right?
Mocha: Feeling protected sitting under that giant coffee bean plant as a baby in India and hearing the wind rustle in her leaves singing its own personal song just for me!
Vixen: My earliest memories of music is at the age of 12, when I took my voice, seriously, I performed Redemption songs at Bob Marley’s memorial for the BBC
Nova-: Watching my mum perform the old classics at the care homes she used to do shows for when I was a toddler
If you could collaborate with anyone who would you choose?
DD: Currently I would say Taylor Swift as she’s an amazing song writer so we could write songs together!
Vixen: Little Mix, Rhianna and Beyonce
Bombshell: I would defo collaborate with Whitney Houston.
Mocha: Defo Beyonce!
Nova: John Legend would be amazing!
Who are your favourite artists/bands?
DD: Madonna
Miss Bombshell: Tina Turner.
Miss Vixen: Rhianna, Taylor Swift, Jay Z Beyonce and Little Mix
Mocha: Mine are Taylor Swift , Britney and The Beatles. I love them!
What do you desire the most, a Number 1 record or a Brit award?
DD and Bombshell: Oooh what a hard question! We want both… You cant get one without the other :)
Vixen: A Brit Award, A Grammy, and a transatlantic Number 1
Mocha: Oooo I’ll go with Vixen
Nova: Me three!
Would you ever consider entering a talent show such as X Factor?
Bombshell: Absolutely not! Its all fake!
DD: I think it’s a good platform but I think it’s all set up. I wouldn’t want to do it but I would do it as a last result. The hard way is the right way.
Vixen: I already have I was top 12 finalist 2013, it was a great achievement for me really and proved my love for music
Mocha: Yes it’s a good platform.
Nova: I would have before…because its the quickest and easiest way to get yourself a fast track to success….but not any-more
What is your favourite song in the charts at the moment?
DD and Bombshell : There’s so many good songs at the moment but we both love this one – ‘How Deep Is Your Love’ by Calvin Harris. We are like ‘Woooop!’. We love Jess Glynne’s ‘ Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself’’ it has a very positive message.
Vixen: Probably Little Mix’s ‘Black Magic’.
Mocha: ‘Sugar’ by Robin Shultz
Nova: I have got the same as Vixens, I love Black Magic!
If you could perform at any venue, where would you choose?
Bombshell: I would love to perform everywhere but I would love to do one in my home country.
Vixen: I would love to perform with the girls at the Brit Awards!
DD: I want to play at every single stage… I just wanna perform to people. I would say the main one is Madison Square Garden!
Mocha: The O2 Arena would be a dream come true!
Nova: Glastonbury baby!!..why? Because I think the energy and party atmosphere there as well would be incredible!!
Who are your Celeb crushes?
DD and Bombshell: We will take everyone from David Beckham to Michaele Aly to Bradley Cooper… But really we will have them all! All the sexy men ;)
Vixen: My Celeb crush is Rihanna
Mocha: Hmm… Angelina jolie and Chris Hemsworth
You are getting a lot of interest online, what would you like to say to the people who are supporting your music?
Thank you so much to everyone, we can’t believe the love and support we are receiving . When the hack happened we were all so down, we lost almost all our followers and it was a very dark day. It’s incredible how everyone has rallied around us. At first we were so angry, but you know what, we can honestly say we have forgiven the hacker, and we hope she finds some peace in her life and can go on with her dreams. Everyone’s dream should come true.
What do you hope to achieve in the next ten years?
Of course we want the stuff that comes from being in a successful pop band, who wouldn’t? Tours, fans, number 1’s, and everything that comes along with that but as corny as this may sound we also want to make a change in the world, and hopefully shine a light on some really serious womens issues that need changing. Stuff like inappropriate behaviour in the work place that’s gone on for far too long. So many women have to put up with that, day in day out. In fact we have even written a song about it called “ Too Touchy Feely” Men have been running this world for a long time, and it’s not in such great shape, it’s time for us women to get in the drivers seat!.
