Olivia Ooms is an exciting rising talent in Country Music and recently became the first female artist featured on Radio Disney’s new station RDYou. Ooms was also selected for CMT’s 2018Artist Discovery program and has opened for major stars such as Tanya Tucker, Lady Antebellum, and Old Dominion.

And most recently she released her brilliant new single ‘Thoughts Of You’.

Here we speak exclusively to Olivia Ooms to discuss her latest release, musical inspirations, future plans and more:

Growing up who inspired your love of country music?

My older brother and my guitar teacher were huge influences on myself and my love of country!

Who are your all time musical heroes?

    Tanya Tucker and Dierks Bentley!

How would you say your music fits into the current country scene?

My music brings a new, fun and youthful side that the country scene doesn’t have a lot of. Also, more female voices are ALWAYS great to welcome into the country scene.

You were recently selected for CMT’s 2018 Artist Discovery program, what was that like?

It’s been an amazing opportunity. The CMT family is so kind and supportive, and I’m so grateful to work with them!

During your career so far you have opened for the likes of Lady Antebellum and Old Dominion. What has been the best lesson you have learned while opening for them?

To always have fun on stage. While watching Old Dominion play after me, I could see how much fun they were all having together. When you’re having fun, the audience has fun, and it makes a great time for everyone!

Your new single ‘ Thoughts Of You’ is out now, what inspired the track?

I wrote “Thoughts of You” based off of a breakup and the period of time you go through when you’re reminiscing on the good and the bad while getting over someone.

What do you hope fans take from the song?

I hope that fans can listen to this song and relate to it in one way or another. People go through breakups, and that’s just apart of life. Rather than focus on it for a long period of time, it’s best to find ways to move on and become a better version of yourself.

Can we expect an album soon?

An album will definitely be coming within the next year! Although right now, I’m working on releasing singles and doing a lot of fun stuff with that!

Do you have any touring plans lined up?

I travel all around to perform and am always performing around in my hometown of Huntington Beach, Calif. I don’t have a specific tour lined up, but I always post on my socials about anywhere I might be playing!

What are your long term career goals?

My goal is to perform at the Grand Ole Opry and to win a CMA award. I want to tour the world, meet fans and new people and share my love of music with them!
