Lukas Nelson and the Promise of Reals have had a busy year. They’ve managed to record and release an album: Turn Off The News (Build a Garden).
They’ve dominated the charts both cinema and music with their work on the smash hit movie A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. “I’m very proud that my band is playing on that song Shallow.”
The first release from the new record Turn Off The News (Build a Garden) was Bad Case.
“From the songs on the new record, it was a lot of peoples favourites, so it was a good choice to lead with. But we have a lot of favourite songs off the album. For me it’s a tie between Save a Little Heart Ache and Where Does Love Go When It Dies.” There are few though so it’s really hard for me to pick between all those.”
Turn Off the News(Build A Garden) features a lot of collaborations, Margo Price, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Micah Nelson, Kesha, Shooter Jennings, Randy Houser, Lucius, Madison Ryann Ward, Hunter Elizabeth and Neil Young.
“It’s a really organic process [recording the album] we do the song and we think oh you know they would be great on this and then you know we ask them and they either say yes or they can’t! I am very grateful for everyone who contributed to the album.”
“We produced the whole album ourselves so there won’t be any pop producers coming in. It’s a collaboration between lots of different people.”
The band will be in the UK this summer playing some dates.
“I feel lucky to be able to play music for a living. We give 100% to all our shows!”
