Eyes Eat Suns are an exciting, fast rising duo whose latest single ‘Fix Me’ features bright vocals and brash, but crisp production. It is the underdog anthem for not fitting in. Vocalist and songwriter Ayisa Adderley manages to effortlessly connect themes of self-worth and confidence for those who may be finding it hard to flourish in today’s world of unaccepting and unapologetic social norms.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Fix Me’, Eyes Eat Suns’ vocalist Ayisa Adderly says: “To be completely frank, the song was written from spite. It’s a bit ironic that the song sounds like a fun, lighthearted pop song, but it’s actually pretty dark. From adolescence into adulthood we feel like we are constantly in competition with not just ourselves, but with the world around us. We want to be the smartest, the most attractive, or the most interesting. Materialism rules our motives through the means of social media and I don’t think it’s fair that people believe that they have to be “Instagram Ready” all the time. Often, there are people in your life that try to say: do this, do that, or be a certain way. There’s this punky lyrical vibe in the song that basically says: screw that, stop trying to fix what’s not broken and the sooner we realize we don’t have to be anything other than equivocally ourselves, you feel the freest.”
