Makk Mikkael is a rising star who is passionate singer/songwriter whose melodies, soul-awakening lyrics, and dedication to self-empowerment have earned her the reputation as a visionary up-and-coming leader across Toronto, winning acclaim from renowned artists like Major Lazer.
Makk originally hails from Calgary, and her passion for songwriting began early in life. By the time she was 14, she had recorded a country inspired album under the name Mackenzie Rose. Then just three years later, she ventured out to Los Angeles for a year, where she lived with Kiesza, Jenna Andrews, and Ron Perry and had a number of studio sessions with Felix Snow.
The rising star also had the opportunity to work with JordanXL who produced Mike Posner’s LP and a multitude of other creative minds. Currently, aged just 19, Makk Mikkael is as ambitious as ever, and is ready to take the world by storm with latest release ‘Use Me’.
Speaking about the track, Mikkael says: “My new single, “Use Me,” pulls you in with its dark and edgy twist. At first, my producer and I were really feeling the production on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack. I wrote “Use Me” with a friend who’s an amazing songwriter. We started with the typical guy/girl, partying vibe, but the message transitioned more into being about a girl struggling with an addiction to heroin. With that visual, the song basically wrote itself. Use Me” is the most commercial-sounding song I’ve released thus far in my career. The new stuff on my forthcoming debut album has its own feel. – still super dark but featuring more experimentation with different sounds, elements, and emotions”.
