Simon XO is an exciting 22-year-old American electro-pop artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist who is fast on the rise. Originally from San Diego, the musician started playing trombone at a young age and by the time he turned thirteen he was blasting it along to Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and Wilco albums. Realising the dichotomy between his trombone playing and his desire to be a mainstream artist, he enrolled in USC’s Thornton School of Music to hone his craft and natural ability.
After years of playing in various bands, Simon XO released a double single, “Waiting for Me to Break” / “How Do I Fight It”. back in January of this year. And he is now gearing up for the release of his brand new single ‘There’s A Way Out’ which is another taste of what to expect from his upcoming debut EP ‘Covering’, which is due to drop later this year and features productions that bend over backwards to reinforce themes of doubt, loved ones, and facing intrapersonal fears in a world that makes it so easy to run away from them.
Speaking about the inspiration behind his latest release, Simon XO says: “So much of the pain in my life and the pain I’ve noticed in my friends’ and family’s lives are that we fail to let each other in. We lash out in anger when we should be doing the exact opposite. We don’t feel alone because we are alone, we feel alone because we don’t look up and see the waves of people that care so much about us.” –
