Sunshine Riot are an esteemed Boston based Southern-flavoured roots rock quartet who are quietly taking over the world with their infectious sound. Their third studio album titled ‘Lonely Hotel’ will be released this Friday (September 21st) and was produced by the 19-time Grammy nominated producer George Dussault, at Gailee Studios in Cumberland RI, who calls Sunshine Riot a “great, soulful band, a favourite of mine”
The four piece band take elements of country, blues, rock and punk which combine to make a really unique sound that belongs solely to Sunshine Riot . Their new LP reflects the perspective of the group who have been writing, touring, performing and generally “doing their thing” for around a decade. They still maintain their focus on writing the best, most honest rock and roll songs they can. The new record ‘Lonely Hotel’ delivers twelve new tracks and the title is a reference to time spent on the road, and the fundamental feeling which seems to find its way into most songs: a kind of restless yearning.
Speaking about their new album, Sunshine Riot say: “After 7+ years, 2 full lengths, and countless highway miles, we’re really excited to release our 3rd studio record, ‘Lonely Hotel.’ In some respects, the album is a return to our punk roots, and gives our 2012 debut a run for its money in terms of decibel level. But I think it also maintains a firm grasp on the folk/blues sound which we’ve been delivering in dive bars across the nation for the better part of a decade. Today, we’re grateful that we somehow still have an opportunity to make music together. We’re damn proud of this thing and hope whoever stumbles over it enjoys it as much as we do.”
