Shayla Souliere is a fierce singer-songwriter from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Back in December, she released her latest single ‘Screw U’, a powerful anthem that gives a big ‘screw U’ to past relationships. Since the release of her single, Shayla has received incredible radio support, including from her hometown station Z99 Regina. The track also received exposure on popular app Musical.ly.

Today, Shayla unveils a gorgeous acoustic version of ‘Screw U’, and guess what? We’ve got the exclusive premiere right here! Of the acoustic version, Shayla said: “My song ‘Screw U’ has always held a special place in my heart. I was extremely excited to put a new acoustic kind of twist on it. With that being said I hope you enjoy this version as much as I do.”

Talking about the inspiration behind the song, Shayla told Variety Beat: “For my single “Screw U” I collaborated with my songwriting/production team Alex Cantrall, Jeff Hoeppner, and Rhett Fisher. We recorded this at ES Audio Recording Studio in Burbank, CA. We all sat in the studio and I mentioned to the guys that I had some friends going through issues with their boyfriends and that everyone goes through times in their life where they aren’t getting along with someone or someone’s really annoyed them. That was when we thought up the idea of “Screw U.”
The release of ‘Screw U’ is the latest in a long line of incredible opportunities for Shayla, who continuously proves her determination to reach for the stars. In the past, Shayla has had the opportunity to sing with Alyssa Reid, and also took part in a singing contest called ‘Edmonton Undiscovered’. After an accident which involved breaking a rib, she was unable to continue the contest, but since then she has taken part in many online contests with Giggs, Much Music and more.
It was in 2013 when Shayla had one of her most exciting opportunities yet. She came into contact with Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Alex Cantrall (Beyoncé, P!NK, JoJo), who took her under his wing. The rest, as they say, is history as he’s been her mentor ever since!
