Pop/rock band Royal Street, made up of Viana Newton, Alex Beattie and Brian Cautiare, are back with an incredible new single called ‘Make Believe’. The track is the lead offering from their forthcoming LP Flavors, and showcases a catchy sound which highlights lead vocalist Viana’s bluesy chops.

Speaking about the track, Royal Street said: “‘Make Believe’ is the closest thing to a ballad on the album, and it always evokes a strong reaction from fans at live shows. The slow burning introduction sets up the story of a yearning, a desire for a love that never was and may never will be. The song is an emotional one for the band, and one that we hope is open-ended enough people can interpret in their own way and make their own connection with, because that’s what we think making music is all about.”

The accompanying music video for ‘Make Believe’ is fun, but also carries an important message. Shot and edited by Rhys Santa Maria, it starts off with the band running through a sound check ahead of their performance. As they kill time before the show, they head to the bar for some shots whilst Viana scrolls through her Instagram feed. She likes a picture of a funny face made out of eggs and bacon, which kick starts a whole new dimension in the video.

We are then shown a series of different people going to extreme efforts to make their social media look perfect, when the reality appears to be quite different. A lot of the time, people get caught up in the high expectations laid out by social media but it must be remembered that people only post what they want you to see. What goes on behind closed doors is often a completely different story. So, the next time you see a picture of a perfectly cooked breakfast on your timeline, remember that chances are, they ended up giving it to their dog instead.

We’re excited to be premiering Royal Street’s music video for ‘Make Believe’ today! So sit back and check it out below.

Royal Street are an exciting band whose energy and infectious hooks have captured the attention of music lovers everywhere. Since their launch, they have already achieved great feats including playing the 2015 Warped Tour in Mansfield, MA, and playing their own shows across the Northeast and Midwest.

Later this month, they will be heading out on tour with The Millenium, kicking off in Nashville on June 9 before finishing off in Providence on June 16. Full dates are available below.
