With only a few weeks to go until this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, eight incredible artists have been confirmed to perform on the night.

Leading the way will be Katy Perry, who also has the honour of hosting this year’s ceremony. She will be joined by Fifth Harmony, Ed Sheeran and Shawn Mendes. Also on the line up are 30 Seconds to Mars, The Weeknd, Miley Cyrus and Lorde.

This year’s ceremony will take place at The Forum, Inglewood, California on August 27. In a similar move to the MTV Movie and TV Awards earlier this year, gender specific categories have been scrapped, meaning that the ‘Moon man’ will be replaced by a ‘Moon person’.

The Artist of the Year Award will see Ariana Grande and Lorde battle it out against Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran. Kendrick Lamar leads the way with eight nominations, whilst The Weeknd and Katy Perry have five each.
