On August 17 festival goers celebrated the first day of the brand new festival RiZE at Hylands Park in Chelmsford. Festival goers faces( both male and female )were covered in glitter, from their beards to their cheeks and foreheads.
BILK kicked off the festival on the main stage closely followed by Ash and Punctual. There were many different acts on the different stages throughout the day resulting in music for every taste. MNEK took to Stage 2 playing his well known tracks ‘Never Forget You’, and ‘Ready For Your Love’.
Next up was Plan B on the Main Stage. He played both new and old music including his huge hit ‘She Said’. After Plan B came James Bay who filled his set with love and passion. James performed a cover of ‘The Best’ by Tina Turner. James Bay’s set slowly came to the end with James performing his hit single ‘Hold Back The River’. Craig David performed mainly old hits getting the audience pumped up , the party vibe was felt throughout his whole set. Craig finished with a montage starting with his hit ‘7 Days’ and finishing with ‘Sixteen’.
The crowd warmed their vocals before Liam Gallagher by chanting ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’. Liam did not disappoint the crowd singing new and old hits with the crowd knowing every song. Gallagher started the set with ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star getting the audience pumped and excited for the rest of the set. The fans lit the sky with different color flares as Liam belted out ‘Drugs and Alcohol’. Liam catered for many different generations with his music responsible for the crowd surfing and many bottles of water being thrown giving the crowd a delightful shower.
He payed tribute to ‘the most amazing voice in the world’ Aretha Franklin by dedicating ‘Maybe’ by Oasis to the American singer. Liam left the crowd in good spirit bringing them an encore performing Oasis fan favorite ‘Wonderwall’ which was the biggest crowd pleaser!
