After two weeks of incredible dances, it was time for Strictly Come Dancing to say goodbye to its first celebrity dancer of the series!
(spoiler alert!!!)
The first contestant to get the boot this year was Welsh sprinter Iwan Thomas and his partner Ola Jordan. They were eliminated after being in the dance-off with singer Jamelia and her partner Tristan MacManus.
It was no surprise to see Iwan in the dance-off having found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard last night. His Cha-Cha to Sexy and I Know It failed to impress the judges, scoring a measly 13 points out of 40.
The judges described his dancing as ‘aggressive’ and failed to improve in the dance-off as all four judges decided to vote Iwan as the first celebrity to leave.
Iwan said of the Strictly experience, “I’ve loved every minute of it! Thank you judges and to the contestants, you have all been so nice and I’m going to miss you all! I don’t want to go home!”
On the other end of the Strictly leaderboard last night was Peter Andre, with a combined score of 60 after two fantastic dances. Following closely in second place was The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness who waltzed his way to the highest score of the series so far, achieving 31 points for his dreamy waltz with Aliona Vilani. Combined with the 27 he received for his Cha Cha last week, it gave him a grand total of 58 points, tying with Call The Midwife star Helen George.
Next week the contestants will take on Hollywood glamour with a movie week special.
Strictly returns to BBC1 next Saturday at 6:20pm.
