The first look at ‘The Girl on the Train’ movie is here!

The film, based on the best selling thriller novel by Paula Hawkins, stars Emily Blunt as the troubled protagonist Rachel. Using alcohol as a coping mechanism for her divorce, Rachel forms a fictional bond with a couple she sees from the train window on her daily commute. One day, she sees something untoward out of the window, and soon becomes embroiled in a shocking crime mystery.

Those who have read the book will be aware of its thrilling twists and turns, making it a perfect choice for a book-to-film adaptation. However, from the trailer, fans of the book have already noticed a major change during the adaptation. The book was originally set in London, however the story in the film is set in New York. We will have to wait and see how much this affects the film overall.

The trailer is eerie and chilling, with a slowed down version of Kanye West’s ‘Heartless’ as the soundtrack. Director Tate Taylor recently promised fans “sex, infidelity, deception, obsession, more sex, a little bit of murder and plenty of cocktails”. It’ll be interesting to see if the movie adaptation can emulate the runaway success of Hawkins’ debut novel.

Speaking about the role, Blunt told Deadline: “I just love that it’s about addiction and loneliness and voyeurism and what we think we see and don’t see. I think it’s very relatable. We’ve all ridden the train to work and wondered about the lives of the people on the train, and I think that people relate to that.” She also previously told EW that this was “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done.”

The film also stars Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Rebecca Ferguson, Lisa Kudrow, Laura Prepon, Alison Janney and Edgar Ramírez.
