One promising way to brighten up your week: download some free rock n’ roll music from the Foo Fighters!
Dave Grohl and company unleashed five brand new songs recorded in Austin, Texas yesterday followed by a lengthy love letter to fans.
The enigmatic countdown clock on the Foo Fighters’ website unveiled a five track EP titled ‘Saint Cecilia’, which is offered as a free download. The EP comes barely a year after the band’s last album Sonic Highways. The EP is an end-of-the-tour thank you gift to fans and a tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks.
In a letter to fans Dave Grohl, the bands frontman said:
“Now, there is a new, hopeful intention that, even in the smallest way, perhaps these songs can bring a little light into this sometimes dark world. To remind us that music is life, and that hope and healing go hand in hand with song. That much can never be taken away.
To all who were affected by the atrocities in Paris, loved ones and friends, our hearts go out to you and your families. We will return and celebrate life and love with you once again someday with our music. As it should be done.”
‘Saint Cecilia’ is available now for free on Google Play. It’s also streaming on Apple Music, Spotify and is available from the band’s site as a free download. The group also invite you to pre-order their ‘Saint Cecilia’ vinyl on their official site.
