Gabriella Cilmi returns to the music scene with the release of her stunning new single ‘Ruins’ which is out today on Kin Records Ltd.
The ‘Sweet About Me’ songstress returns with a more mature and authentic sound, the new single described as ‘a beautiful piece of glided country-soul’, is her first solo release since album ‘The Sting’ in 2014, all eyes and ears are set to be on Gabriella.
Cilmi shot to fame at a very young age and enjoyed chart success after chart success around the globe with other hit singles including ‘On A Mission’ and ‘Warm This Winter’, a cover of the classic Connie Fisher track ‘I’m Gonna Be Warm This Winter’. She also bagged herself six ARIA Music Awards, including ‘Best Female Artist’ and ‘Single Of The Year’ in 2008.
Gabriella says “I am beyond excited to release new music again. It feels like I’ve been in hibernation for far too long and it would be nice to get out and tour…‘Ruins’ was one of those tunes that came about really quickly. It was the first time Eliot and I had worked together in about 5 years. At that point I knew that with the new record I wanted to take things back to basics so we recorded the demo pretty simply and quickly with just guitar and piano. I didn’t want to spend years on a vocal take. I wanted it to feel spontaneous, more like a live performance. The song is basically a warning to take care and treasure the ones you love. It’s just as easy to build a relationship up as it is to tear it down.”
10 years on, the Australian singer has found her path as she has blossomed into an independent artist, working alongside her brother Joseph as a co-writer and producer Eliot James. This will all lead to Gabriella’s forthcoming EP.
