Mystique has appeared in six movies so far and has been played two different actors. Currently, Jennifer Lawrence plays the startlingly blue mutant. It is possible she could play her again in a potential solo movie if it gets the green light but it has been rumoured she may not return after the current X-Men: Apocalypse.
The director, Bryan Singer, has suggested it may now be time to let Mystique stretch her abilities and get her own film just like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool did, both hugely successful.

Singer appeared and spoke on Empire‘s podcast and said that the character would make for an ideal stand-alone film, no matter who gets to play her.
“I think [Mystique’s] right for [a solo movie], whether it’s Jennifer or not,” Bryan said, explaining that the character “has this different view of the world. Xavier can get into Cerebro and look at the world but he’d rather just teach classes and see the beauty of mutants and humans co-existing in his mansion in Westchester. Along comes Raven with a reality check on the state of the world. It opens up alot of avenues.”
In the comics, Mystique is involved in alot of the storylines, particularly when it is revealed she is Nightcrawler’s mother although this doesn’t seem to be something that will come to light in film form especially after seeing both of their interactions with each other in X-Men: Apocalypse. Not only that, it is revealed that she is also the adoptive mother of Rogue. But again, whether this will be one of the possible avenues to go down, it remains unknown but not impossible. She also had romantic links with Professor Xavier and Wolverine which comic book fans will remember so these storylines may arise if she gets her own solo movie.
