It’s the 5th May and 28 years ago today Adele Laurie Blue Adkins entered the world!
Despite her young age, The record-breaking megastar has sold over 55 million albums worldwide, won 10 Grammy’s, an Oscar, 13 Billboard Awards, oh and an MBE for services to music – all whilst being an incredible mother!
Recently, according to IFPI, she single-handedly reversed two decades of rapidly declining physical album sales.
In 2016, the musician outsold the other top five bestsellers put together after selling 17.4 million units of 25, despite the record only being released in November. 25, containing hits such as “Hello”, sold 3.38 million in the US in its first week alone and 800,000 in its first week in the UK.
Best selling albums, Ed Sheeran’s X and Taylor Swift’s 1989, each sold 3.5 million copies in 2015. Justin Bieber’s Purpose and Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour sold 3.1 million and 2.6 million copies.
The singer has well and truly earned her “legend” status, even if she is only 28!
Her fans, known as “Daydreamers” (named after the first song on Adele’s debut album, 19) have composed a heart-warming video in celebration of her birthday:

Not only have they made a video, but also a stunning and thoughtful scrapbook. The gift will travel over 500 miles and be hand-delivered to the woman herself by two British daydreamers on the 10th May.
