Recently Birmingham born, London raised singer Harlea announced her latest single Beautiful Mess, this news has now been followed by the video release.
The video for Beautiful Mess (released last month) was directed by Abraham Roofeh and shot in the Californian desert. Following Harlea’s desire for poets Robert Montgomery and Greta Bellamacina to feature this was achieved. As Harlea explains about the video ‘Making the video was a lot of fun. I had a vision of provocative words speaking ugly truths with a powerful blaze ripping through them. I instantly thought of Rob and Greta as I suspect it was their art that inspired my vision. We have been friends for many years and I felt a strong connection between them, their art, their image and the song. Their art provokes society into self-examination. Like a lot of great art, I believe people interpret it in a manner unique to them but it always provokes or inspires. While filming the video we asked over 40 people what the words at the end of the video meant. Everyone replied with something different and thought-provoking. That is immensely powerful!’
The release of Beautiful Mess follows on from last years releases Miss Me and You Don’t Get It. Harlea has also played at The Great Escape this year alongside gaining support from BBC Introducing and Spotify. We’d recommend checking her out as her sultry sounds are just what your summer is missing.
