American rapper, songwriter and producer Vi City has made a name for himself both in his hometown of Chicago as well as globally. The talent is known for his dynamic co-writes with artists including Nelly and Sir Michael Rocks, as well as his work with the hit TV show Entourage. Vi City’s latest accomplishment, though, is his debut solo album Hotels and Heartbreaks.
Hotels and Heartbreaks is a ten track collection of infectious and hard hitting rap singles all about the hustle of city life, desire, connection, success, opulence and escape. The well connected Vi City enlisted the help of rapper Ari Stylez, vocalist and DJ Phoinix Keyz, rapper Vega Heartbreak, and Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Kes Kross to all lend their talents to the prolific project. Standout track “Won’t Do” seduces with meditative bass, relaxed rhymes and a catchy hook, while “Anguilla” takes the listener on a tropical escape which is full of island inspired guitars, and spitfire, assertive raps. Then there is “Deuces & Waves” with its soaring melodies and a commanding flow, the single is intoxicating.
