Ever since we found out that the lovely people at Universal were making a sequel to, “Mamma Mia!” we have been on the edge of our seats with excitement, ready to find out more about it. We’ve had the official release date for it, we’ve had the first official trailer for it, and when we found out that the international trailer for it had dropped we’re not afraid to say that we let out a tiny squeal of delight.
Okay so it was more than just a tiny squeal but can you blame us? We loved, “Mamma Mia!” and by the look of this newly released international trailer, the sequel, “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” is going to be equally as amazing.
The new international trailer shows a now-pregnant Sophie, played by Amanda Seyfried, saying that she has never felt closer to her mother, and then we are pulled backwards into a flashback of Donna arriving to the Greek island of Kalokairi all those years ago… Dungarees and all.
The trailer flicks between the past and the present, just as the movie is expected to do as it tells the story of Donna’s life leading up to the beginning of the previous movie.
“If I can just be as brave as my mother was back then,” Sophie then says, hinting that the Donna we fell in love with in the original film has passed away. Although we will probably have to wait until the sequel is released to find out exactly what has happened to her.
Music-wise, the new trailer is filled with all of our favourite ABBA songs and it definitely had our foot tapping under the desk as we watched it. But the biggest surprise of all was the appearance of Cher, who seems to be a total scene-stealer as she completely owns her role as Sophie’s grandmother.

How awesome was that?! Luckily we don’t have to wait very long to see, “Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again,” as it is expected to be released on 20th July 2018… Just six months to go!
The upcoming sequel will feature the same characters as the original movie along with a couple of new additions including Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver), with Judy Craymer and Gary Goetzman producing and Ol Parker (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) writing and directing.
And all you ABBA fans will be thrilled to know that Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus will also act as executive producers on the movie after giving it their stamp of approval.
But wait, there’s more!
