With the release of his latest single “My Heart Is A Broken Record” with Molly Rainford, producer on-the-rise Alex Kirsch continues to establish his status as one the U.K.’s most exciting new musical talents.
Serving as the follow up to “Never Let It Go” – which to date has amassed over 1.5 million streams – the upbeat, summer anthem explodes with an abundance of colourful energy, as Rainford’s pointed, sassy vocals soar over the top of a myriad of innovative, house-piano sequences, and high impact synths to produce the ultimate pop banger!

To celebrate the success of “My Heart Is A Broken Record” we caught up with Alex to talk summer anthems, working with Molly, musical inspirations and what’s next…
Hi Alex! How’s your summer going so far?
My Summer is going amazing so far! I’m currently in Barcelona sunbathing, and tomorrow I’ll be in Ibiza so cannot complain at all.
You’ve teamed up with Molly Rainford on your new single “My Heart’s A Broken Record”, how are you feeling now the song is out?
I’m ecstatic to share the song with everyone. It feels incredible to see it manifest from the studio to the radio.
When you were writing and recording the track, what reaction were you hoping listeners would have when hearing it for the first time?
During the creation of the track I envisaged that listeners would be uplifted and have it stuck in their head after one listen.
What’s been your favourite part about working with Molly?
Working with Molly has been a breeze, it’s not every day that you get to collaborate with your next door neighbour! But I’d say my favourite part about working with her is that she can be at the studio recording within 5 minutes notice – she’s very amicable, and down to earth as well as being a lot of fun.
Have you got anymore musical collaborations in the works?
I’m constantly in studio sessions working with incredibly talented artists and have a number of tracks that I love. Meeting fellow musicians is a blast and always thrilling to see what we can come up with.
You’ve had great success in your career so far, “Never Let It Go” was HUGE! Did you feel a pressure at all during the launch of this single?
I believe it’s always good to feel some pressure as it prevents you from becoming complacent. Sometimes I like to exchange ‘pressure’ for ‘excitement’ as they’re essentially the same thing depending on your outlook.
“My Heart’s A Broken Record” is such a summer anthem! We’re curious to know though, what songs have you been listening to non-stop this summer?
This summer has been full of bangers. A couple I’ve had on repeat include “Miracle” by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, “Desire” by Joel Corry and “Never Knew Love” by Riton and Belters Only.
As a kid growing up in Essex, was music something you were always passionate about?
When I was five I started classical guitar lessons from my Dad which I quit at seven to play Xbox. Thankfully at fourteen my Dad gave me my first production lesson which ignited an addiction to songwriting and producing. Music is now my number one passion for life.
Where there any artists / DJ’s / producers you looked up to, and felt inspired by?
The most obvious inspiration for me is my Dad, as he has penned numerous Top 10 hits as well as one of my all time inspirations being the legendary Avicii, who in my opinion was the greatest EDM producer of all time! Another huge inspiration is Jonas Blue and I’m so grateful to be on the same record label as him.
Can you tell us a little bit about your creative process, and how you go about creating a track?
In the studio I always like to start off with chords which inspire everyone in the room to come up with something special. Once the song is fully written I then start the production process focusing on building around the vocal and filling the track with energy that gets people moving. I often focus on coming up with catchy melodies that people can’t forget.
What would you say was your “break” into the industry?
I had a few projects on the go from the age of 16 however my first big break was getting signed to Positiva/EMI Records with the release of my debut single “Never Let It Go”.
What are some of the challenges you’ve faced so far, and how did you overcome them?
When writing a song I enjoy collaborating with other lyricists to bounce ideas off as it can sometimes be challenging to come up with fresh and exciting lyrics while alone in the studio.
You recently remixed Olly Murs’ single “Die Of a Broken Heart” – how did that come about?
Olly is also on EMI Records so the label asked me if it was something I was up for. I’ve always loved Olly’s music and was so excited to put my own spin on it. Olly loved it which really made my day.
Away from music, you’re making quite a name for yourself in the modelling world, is that something you’re still keen to pursue?
I love modelling and meeting new people on the shoots which is always fun. Calvin Harris does both so hopefully I can follow in his footsteps.
What can fans expect to see / hear from you next?
I have a few special songs in the pipeline which I’ve played to my label. I can’t wait to get them from my laptop to the world as I love sharing new ideas with people and spreading positive vibes through my music. Music is the universal language of the world and I am so grateful and happy to be able to create songs every day.
