Hey Violet are a rock band originating from Los Angeles, California consisting of sisters Rena ( bass and lead singer) and Nia Lovelis ( drums and vocals) and friends Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar, keyboard and vocals) and Casey Moreta ( lead guitar) .The band formed back in 2008 when members Rena, Nia and Miranda were still attending school. Originally the band were called Cherri Bomb and instead of Moreta in the band another girl called Julia Pierce made up the band. A couple of years after the band formed, Pierce left and was eventually replaced by Moreta. They eventually decided to change their name after Pierce left and began to write music and cover songs under the name Hey Violet.
Back in 2011, Cherri Bomb was signed to a record label, Hollywood Records and released their debut EP, Stark on October 18th , 2011. The EP done well and they were invited to support the likes of Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and Steel Panther who are all very successful bands. They also appeared at a few festivals such as T in the Park and Reading and Leeds Festival. Cherri Bomb then released a studio album called, This Is the End of Control in 2012 and it peaked at number 11 on the Top Heatseekers chart. After releasing the album, they were invited to perform at Warped Tour which is the festival most bands in the genre of Cherri Bomb want to play at. Overall Cherri Bomb had a really successful career up until Pierce left.
In 2013, the band announced over Facebook that Pierce would be leaving due to and that Moreta would be would be joining the band on a temporary basis. The fans seemed to take to Moreta and he was eventually invited to become an official member to replace Pierce and this is when Hey Violet was born.
Hey Violet have become very popular this year due to them being signed to Hi or Hey Records owned by one of the biggest bands in the world, 5SOS. They were announced as the support act for 5SOS’ big tour ROWYSO and have gained many fans with people really enjoying their music! They have just recently released a brand new EP called I Can Feel It and will hopefully eventually release an album or two. They have a very strong backing of fans who adore them and are doing really well in the music business! We wish them luck on their career and can not wait to hear all the new music they will eventually release and seeing them headline their own tours in the future!
