Silver Lake 66 are an exciting, fast rising modern Americana duo consisting of Maria Francis and Jeff Overbo. They hail from Portland and are ready to take the genre by storm with their unique blend of Country tinged Americana.
Their latest offering ‘Ragged Heart’ is the second single to be lifted off their upcoming debut album of the same name which is slated for an April 2nd release.
The single ‘Ragged Heart’ follows on from the January release of Blue Earth Country’ which is a track that speeds down an endless sweltering stretch of highway in a ‘73 convertible. Electric guitar, a Hammond organ and a sexy steel guitar lead us to a summer day on La Brea Ave in Los Angeles. The song has been inspired by a life-changing decision to leave the Midwest and head across the country, and follows a pursuit to find one’s place in this ever-chaotic world.
With the forthcoming LP ‘Ragged Heart’, Silver Lake 66 bring together authentic, heartstring-tugging songwriting, soaring harmonies and ardent guitar-playing. It’s a common thread tying together the idea of a heart that is ragged around the edges, but still beating strong. While some tracks on the album have an autobiographical nod, others such as “Broken”, came to Overbo in a dream where he and Roy Orbison were hanging out, and playing this song together. ‘Ragged Heart’ is a continuation of their exciting musical journey as a couple, as individuals, and as a like-minded musical duo.
The official tracklist for ‘Ragged Heart’ is as follows:
Blue Earth County
Check Out to Cash
Hard Thing to Do
Like a River
Broken Dreams and Cigarettes
Such a Mess
