James Arthur claims UK number one with ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’

James Arthur is sure making the comeback of all comebacks. The former X Factor winner has claimed the UK number one this week, with his latest offering ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’.

The singer ended The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s four week reign at the top spot, with a combined sales total of 85,000 (made up of 41,000 downloads and 4.4 million streams).

Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, James said: “This is incredible… I wasn’t in any way expecting it. I knew it was a good song and I thought some people might like it, but if you’d said to me it would be this well received, I would have thought you were pulling my leg.”

James is only the second British artist to land a UK number one this year, following Zayn’s ‘Pillowtalk’. ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ is James’ second number one hit, following his X Factor winner’s single ‘Impossible’ back in 2012.

James will be releasing his second album Back From The Edge on October 28. Recorded in London and LA, and co-written with some of the world’s A List songwriters and producers, Back From The Edge encompasses his experiences over the past few years and reflects his true and honest self.

It’s fair to say that James has had a turbulent few years, but having been resigned to Syco, and claiming a number one single, it’s great to see him back on track.
