Rising pop sensation, John K, has released the music video for his stand-out single “if we never met.”
The video shows John K reflecting on his road to his soulmate and wondering “if we never met,” what would life be like? You know when you meet that perfect someone, or even meet one of your best friends, or are apart from your family, the song and video capture that simple, famous question “if we never met.”
The video is simple, with John K sitting on a block as a grainy nature imagery plays on film behind him. The video is weaved with shots of the girl he loves singing along to the song about her. “What if you never / Called me back when I asked you? / Somethin’ stupid bout the weather / It all happened for a reason / ‘Cause you put me back together / But when I put it all together / It all comes back to you,” he muses.
The visual features John K and actress/influencer Inanna Sarkis singing the tune separately in front of a backdrop of vintage video footage, until finally meeting at the end to reveal them together in the same room.
After racking up nearly 30 million streams, “if we never met” took the summer by storm, garnering attention by L’Officiel, Idolator, and Rolling Stone – which marked the track as a “Song You Need To Know.” It was featured on Beats 1’s “Bop of the Week,” while also reaching #3 on Apple Music’s Today’s Hits and #2 on A-List Pop. Meanwhile at radio, “if we never met” continues to stay in the top 30 at Hot AC Radio after debuting at #34.
