Jonas Brothers have unveiled their brand new single ‘Wings’, the first offering from their forthcoming album The Album.
Clocking in at just under two minutes, ‘Wings’ is a short but sweet offering which was produced by sonic visionary artist Jon Bellion (Justin Bieber, Halsey, Maroon 5). Embracing a funky 70s/80s pop sound, ‘Wings’ is laced with dreamy synths, heavenly harmonies, and cements the beginning of a new era for the band.
“‘Wings’ is the perfect start to this new chapter for us. Working with Jon pushed us to explore our artistry in a way we never have before. The song is a great first taste of that creative exploration and what’s to come with The Album“, said the Jonas Brothers.
Jon Bellion added, “We wanted to wipe the palette clean and demolish every expectation and box the brothers have ever been put into out the gate. We pushed ourselves to launch this thing musically into space while grounding it in a sort of Americana / Laurel Canyon nostalgia. There was a time when structure and composition mattered not only loops and vibes, and we dove into that mind frame. We went so deep into the spirit and energy of the late 70’s, the mustaches and long hair method acting approach started to just become our actual reality. The brothers have a God given ability and talent that deserves this level of record making at this point, and I just wanted to honor how special they are with this music.”
To coincide with the track’s release, the Jonas Brothers have also unveiled the official music video for ‘Wings’. Starring The White Lotus’ Haley Lu Richardson, the video focuses on the actress and a group of friends dancing to the track whilst getting ready to go to a JB gig. The band make an appearance near the end as Haley and her pals come across them in the hotel lift. Fittingly, Haley is a real life fan of the band and has been for many years – she was even surprised by Nick during a recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden!
‘Wings’ is the first track to be taken from the Jonas Brothers’ forthcoming sixth studio album, The Album, due for release on May 12. The trio wrote and recorded The Album with Jon Bellion at the helm, and the album itself has been inspired by their individual identities as well as their collective energy. Inspired by artists such as the Bee Gees, The Album is set to be a modern take on an old school sound, bringing plenty of dancefloor-ready funk to the table.
