Jorja Smith and Stormzy Team Up on New Single ‘Let Me Down’

British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith has released her latest single titled, ‘Let Me Down’ which features 2017’s leading man of Grime, Stormzy. The single’s release comes after Jorja was awarded the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice 2018, with past winners being the likes of Sam Smith and Adele – pretty big shoes to fill, if you ask us.

Smith, now a BRIT Award winner, is ready to work harder and prove to the world she is the right choice for the award. Upon releasing the new single, Smith has also announced that she will perform at the BRITs Nominations Ceremony alongside Paloma Faith and J Hus, as well as others. The ceremony is due to take place on January 13th and will be broadcasted live on ITV from 5:45pm GMT.

‘Let Me Down’ was released to all music services on 11th January after premiering on Beats 1. The dreamy ballad, which features Stormzy, tells a story of how Smith would get used to being mistreated by previous lovers and how she wouldn’t mind if she was “less important” to them. In the end, it wouldn’t matter because at least she has them to let her down, which is where the inspiration for the song title come from. The cherry on top, however, is Stormzy’s verse.

There’s just something about Stormzy rapping on a piano hook that captures our attention. A drop of Stormzy’s bitter and a splash of Jorja’s raspy vocals, all within a piano ballad, creates an excellent cocktail of a single.

The future is definitely looking bright for Jorja and we’re excited to follow her journey as she progresses in the music industry. With a high rise to mainstream attention and a BRIT award in the bag, this won’t be the last time you hear of Jorja.
