R&B breakthrough star Kara Marni took to the 1Xtra Live Lounge this week to infuse Drake’s ‘Find Your Love’ with Ella Mai’s ‘Trip’.
The latest to stop by the Radio 1Xtra booth, Kara Marni revamped the iconic Drake single with her trademark soul-infused R&B in what may be one of the best covers you’ll hear this year. Adding a little of Grammy Award-winning Ella Mai’s ‘Trip’ to spice up proceedings, over 3,000 listeners took to YouTube to catch the cover again over the past 24 hours.
Marni, who released empowering track ‘Lose My Love’ in March, is carving her own pop take on R&B into the music industry. No stranger to a cover, having already smashed the likes of Whitney Houston’s ‘My Love is Your Love’, Sam Smith’s ‘Promises’ and Daniel Caesar’s ‘Best Part’.
Having burst onto the scene in 2017, the Londoner put out her debut EP Love Just Ain’t Enough in 2018 and has scored high profile slots including opening for Rita Ora and Raye. Now, she prepares for her own October UK & Europe headline tour, calling at the likes of London’s Bush Hall, Paris’ 1999 and Milan’s Biko, and if the vocals on this week’s cover aren’t enough to convince you, let her appearance on our 21 Songs by Under-21s do the talking.
