It has been about four years since her last solo single and music video – “Crazy Kids” – as she has been wrapped up in an ongoing legal case with Dr Luke. After a one-off single with Zedd titled “True Colors“, which is from his second studio album, last year; she is now back preparing to release her new single and album. Get ready for Kesha to storm all over 2017’s summer.
Her new album, “Rainbow”, is set to be released in August; she has been working on it for the last two-and-a-half years. During the summer of 2016, she embarked on her third world tour titled Kesha and the Creepies: Fuck the World Tour; tour dates were in the US, Canada, and China. During this time, it was revealed that she had written 22 songs for her third studio album, on her own, and gave them to her record label. The tour saw her sing a mixture of cover versions as well as country and rock reworks of her hits; we expect this is the direction she has gone down for her latest album.
The first single, from her third studio album “Rainbow”, will be “Praying”. It is set to be released tomorrow (7 July 2017). It was written by Kesha Sebert, Ryan Lewis, and Ben Abraham. Today saw her drop a music video for the song.

The video opens with a monologue from Kesha herself. She says: “Am I dead? Or is this one of those dreams, those horrible dreams that seem like they last forever? If I am alive, why? Why? If there is a God or whatever; something, somewhere, why have I been abandoned by everyone and everything I’ve ever known, I’ve ever loved? Stranded. What is the lesson? What is the point? God give me a sign or I have to give up. I can’t do this anymore. Please just let me die. Being alive hurts too much.”
Two scenes accompany her monologue; the first one sees her in a coffin, dressed up, while two pig-headed men stand beside her, slobbering; the second one is her lying on a raft in the middle of a mass of water, presumedly the sea. As the song kicks in we enter her eye, and what we presume is a dream world.
Plenty of other scenes follow, we especially love her dressed as an angel as she plays the piano; as well as the scene with all the TVs that have words on them – showing how words can actually hurt.
Other scenes include her running on a beach a holding flag; a church scene, where she walks up to the altar and gets down on her knees – praying. During the second verse, we see new scenes, one where she’s tangled up in nets on a beach; and, a mountain that says “God Is Love” on its face. There is also a moment where she’s being followed by the pig-headed men.
The raft scene develops as a multi-coloured bird appears to brighten up the black and white scene; giving Kesha hope. The ending sees her get off the raft and walk on the water, following a whale as a beautiful rainbow lights up the sky; words appear stating that this is “The Beginning”.
