Khalid has teamed up with good friend and Fifth Harmony star Normani Kordei for a hot new collaboration called ‘Love Lies’.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting this collaboration since the two confirmed that they’d been in the studio together last year. Over the past few days, Khalid and Normani have been teasing us with the release however, they finally dropped it earlier today for Valentine’s Day. The track is taken from the soundtrack to the forthcoming movie, Love, Simon.
‘Love Lies’ is a sultry, slow jam offering tinged with an irresistible RnB vibe. Khalid begins the song with his distinct vocal before Normani showcases her soulful voice in the second verse. The two come together for the choruses, with their voices blending perfectly together. The track is also lyrically captivating – we’re seriously hooked on the chorus.
“So baby, tell me where your love lies
Waste the day and spend the night
Underneath the sunrise
Show me where your love lies”

Whilst her fellow Fifth Harmony girls Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane and Ally Brooke have already dabbled with solo music, this is Normani’s official solo debut. After become good friends and Normani even having a cameo in Khalid’s music video for ‘Young Dumb & Broke’, the collaboration is a natural result of the great chemistry between them.
Speaking about Khalid and their collaboration, Normani told Beats 1: “[Khalid] is definitely such an amazing soul and I think that that’s why this record means so much to me personally. I know that it means a lot to him as well, it’s just because we’re genuine friends. Like, this wasn’t an A&R… somebody just putting us in a room together and being like, “Yo, make something dope.”
“It was literally like, I met him way back when he did ‘Young, Dumb & Broke’. He actually invited me and that was the first time we physically met in person, we had been talking for a minute, but he was just such a special person and I think that he’s such a necessary artist, but he’s an even better person.”
‘Love Lies’ is available now.
