The Killers have begun work on their fifth studio album.
The band returned to the recording studio yesterday (September 9th) in their hometown of Las Vegas.
After months of speculation, Killers drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. confirmed the news.
“We go into the studio 2 days from now.” Vannucci told DIY’s Emma Snook. “On the 9th (September), we start on the 9th.”
“We’ll see what happens,” he added. “We’ve been working with different people and seeing how it feels, and we’re starting to work with another person now… I don’t know if we wanna reveal who that is.”
When asked what sound fans could expect from the new Killers record, Ronnie admitted he wasn’t sure.
“It’s difficult, because when we get in there we come at it from one direction, and then it’ll go another direction! It’ll be surprising to us.”
And what about the rumours The Killers are set to work with Elton John? The drummer wasn’t sure. “I think that’s what they are – just rumours.”
The Killers last released an album in 2012.
‘Battle Born’ debuted at number 1 in the UK and America and featured the singles Runaways, Miss Atomic Bomb and Here With Me.
