Soap Actress, Kym Marsh is to take an extended break from Coronation Street later this year to work on other career projects.
Coronation Street has confirmed today that the brunette actress who has played the role of Michelle Connor for 13 years will be leaving the soap towards the end of 2019.
Kym joined the cast in 2006 and has been at the heart of some of the biggest storylines on the cobbles. She has dealt with the birth of her stillborn son Ruari, with Steve Mcdonald, was shot on her wedding day to Robert Preston by Pat Phelan and has even got involved with covering up for her son murdering Ronan.
After being on the programme since 2006, fans of the character will be pleased to know that there are currently no plans to kill off Michelle, meaning that the door is open for her to return to the cobbles. Kym first became famous when appearing on an ITV show named popstars, eventually becoming a singer in the band Hearsay and having a music career.
Kym, who is set to become a grandmother for the first time in the near future was initially contracted to four episodes on Coronation Street, thirteen years later Michelle has become an iconic character.
The 42-year-old is keen to try something new, her debut in acting was appearing in Doctors, and she has also tried her hand at being a Loose Women panellist. Coronation Street bosses are hopeful that she will return to the show, with this just being an extended break like we have previously seen with other co-stars such as Alison King. We can’t wait to see what is next for Kym in her career.
