Now that’s the way to headline one of the biggest Music Festival’s in the world.
Last night, Lady Gaga moved the audience to tears when she paid a tribute to her long-time gal Sonja Durham, who’s currently battling stage IV breast cancer. The track Grigio Girls is not only a feature off Gaga’s latest album Joanne, but a dedication to their friendship.

“My friend Sonja is very sick and I love her so much and if it’s okay with you, I’d like to sing this for her.”
Performing a piano ballad of Edge Of Glory, you could probably hear a pin drop from the silence throughout the audience. It was a true testament to the range of talent Gaga endures and the amount of respect many have for her. More so, it was a beautiful moment of vulnerability – showcasing that just because celebrities appear to “have it all”, doesn’t excuse them from going through some of the world’s worst battles.
“I’m sorry you don’t feel well. We all wish you were here with us,” Gaga says mid-song.
Before being diagnosed with cancer, Sonja worked as Gaga’s assistant. Since then, the two have been close friends for nearly a decade.
Let’s just say that I understand why people give up and die because they do not have the resources I’ve been given. If it wasn’t for Gaga and the financial contributions from everyone so far, I really do not think I would be here. – Sonja.
Sonja, you’re in our thoughts and prayers here at CelebMix! You will overcome this.
Loads of love to you, your family, and to Lady Gaga.
