Last month, Lana Del Rey presented to us her first and lead single of her upcoming record, ‘’Honeymoon’’. Today the ‘’Summertime Sadness’’ singer comes back and this time, she presents to us yet another song, ‘’High by the Beach’’. It is the second single from her much-anticipated forthcoming album, set to be released sometime in the next few months.
In an interview with Zane Lowe from Beats 1, she talks about her latest single. She also covers a variety of other topics in said interview, from her relationship with James Franco, her songwriting process to her non music related interests.
However, as she speaks of ‘’High by the Beach’’ in her interview with Beats 1’s Zane Lowe, she points out that her track has a ‘’Andrews Sisters vibe’’ to it. She also describes her song as sounding monotone even with the harmonies but with the beat, it added some kind of a trap influence. As we listen to the track, it is easily noticed that the track itself is rather more up tempo than most of her previous songs. As Lowe asked about the origin of the song, she explains that ‘’High by the Beach’’ started with the chorus; that she was driving by the beach rather frequently and it was probably one of the last ones on the record.
