It’s a banger!
LA-based and raised singer-songwriter Leah Kate returned this Friday with another incredible release. Hot on the heels of her latest track “bad idea” (which went semi-viral on TikTok after being shared by creator @girls), the singer unveiled her latest single, titled “Fuck Up the Friendship”.
Lyrically, the track deals with the singer’s need for more than just a friendship. Leah Kate elaborated that “‘fuck up the friendship’ was inspired by my experience falling for a friend who I never thought I would fall for. I really valued our friendship, but the feelings were just too strong to ignore.”
The lyrics undermine this statement. “let’s fuck up the friendship (…) maybe it’s nothing and this is the end”, the singer pleads during the chorus, in hopes that her demands are answered.
Filled with a driving bass line and a chorus that immediately gets stuck in your brain, “Fuck Up the Friendship” is another slice of perfectly crafted pop music. It’s groovy, it’s catchy and it might just be her best release to date.

Also be sure to watch the self-directed music video! Talking about the creation of the video, Leah explained that “I created another home-made video during quarantine. It’s supposed to take you through the mental state of falling for someone – I used abstract objects that are representative of love and friendship while also providing a nostalgic, vintage vibe.“
“Fuck Up The Friendship” is now available everywhere. It was written by Hannah Koppenburg, Leah Kate, Sophie Simmons, Louis School and Maxwell Cooke.
