Learn How To Harmonize Like Little Mix

Have you ever wanted to learn how to sing? Better yet, learn how to harmonize with other people? Perhaps with your friends, mom, dad, grandparents, etc? Well, you came to the right place fellow human.

Starting now, you will be provided and/or participating in a quick, quick, harmony crash course provided by the ultimate girl group, Little Mix!

During their time on the X-factor, Little Mix obviously caught on with harmonies rather quickly. Jesy Nelson, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock are known around the world for their impeccable bond as a group.

While each girl possesses a set vocal range, as a unison, the girls’ ranges extend beyond 3 octaves. This in conclusion goes to show why songs like ‘Turn Your Face’, ‘Towers’ & ‘Secret Love Song’ sound bloody amazing -from the oozing contralto soulfulness of Jesy, all the way up to Perrie’s penetrating head voice and falsetto.

Watch the video, then we’ll get into the rapid but simple harmonizing lesson!

So, back to the lesson, once you figure out your tessitura (your comfortable singing point/range) we can go from there! Next, decide which part you want to take! Do you want to showcase your lower vocal register (Jesy), middle (Jade/Leigh-Anne), or high (Perrie)?

If you want to ooze beautiful harmonies like Little Mix, make sure your other 3 counterparts take a different vocal point. For example, if you take the lower register of a song, make sure someone else takes the high harmony, the unison, etc.

Remember, in a vocal group it’s all about showcasing wide range, harmonies, and perfect blending.

As seen in the video, Perrie takes the high harmony, Jesy takes the lower register harmony, and Leigh-Anne & Jade sing the unison. Of course it might take a little practice but we all know that practice can lead to perfection – just look at Little Mix!

If you ever need a reference point, don’t hesitate to look back at this video! It’s literally a vocal group must – enjoy!
