Emily In Paris actress Lily Collins is set to make her West End debut this autumn, starring opposite Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, Wheel of Time, Immaculate) in a brand new play entitled, ‘Barcelona’.
Written by American playwright Bess Wohl (Pretty Filthy), directed by British creative Lynette Linton (Hashtag Lightie), and produced by ATG Productions, Bad Robot Live and Gavin Kalin Productions, the show will run for 12-weeks only at the Duke of York’s Theatre from October 21st 2024.
Described as being a “seductive thriller”, the production follows an American tourist who one evening goes home with a handsome Spaniard, for what initially appears to be a carefree, one-night stand. But with both personal and political forces at play, things soon take a dangerous turn, as both characters being to explore the “fantasy of who we pretend to be, versus the truth of who we are”.
Commenting on the upcoming production, Collins said via a press release: “It has been a childhood dream of mind to perform in the West End and I’m hugely excited to make my stage debut in Bess’ exciting play, ‘Barcelona’. Working with this team has truly been a gift and I cannot wait for audiences to be taken on a thrilling journey as the play unravels. I knew the moment I finished reading the script, I had to play Irene.”
With her co-star Álvaro adding: “The London theatre scene is a vibrant and exhilarating canvas for fresh, groundbreaking work. I am thrilled and honoured to be a part of this captivating new play, marking my West End debut. I’m looking forward to bringing ‘Barcelona’ to life and sharing it with audiences.”
Tickets for the play are on-sale now.
There will be a weekly lottery to secure tickets to ‘Barcelona’, with 200 tickets released every week, on Monday (from October 14th), at just £25 (including front row seats).
