At their recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Linkin Park dedicated their performance of “One More Light” to late singer Chris Cornell, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday night.
Lead singer Chester Bennington told the crowd, “We were going to come out and play ‘Heavy’ first, but in light of our dear friend Chris Cornell passing way, we decided to play our song ‘One More Light’ in honor of him to start this off. We love you, Chris.”
The song, “One More Light,” comes from Linkin Park’s seventh studio album of the same name, which released on Friday.

Bennington was a close from of Cornell’s, and have performed together several times in the past. The day after Cornell’s tragic passing, Bennington shared an Instagram post as a tribute to his late friend.
He wrote, “You have inspired me in many ways you could have never known. Your talent was pure and unraveled. Your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped up into one.”
Cornell was the lead singer of bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He is survived by his wife and children.
