Ariana and the Rose is back with a brand new single which is sure to kick off her 2017 in style.
This time, Ariana has released a collaboration with RKCB called ‘Love You Lately’. The track is a pop/RnB combo which is slightly different to what we’ve come to expect from Ariana. ‘Love You Lately’ tackles the anguish of indifference and is captured perfectly through the male and female perspective in the song. Full of slick vocals, and a glitchy, looping night-time synth, the track manages to sound both romantic and full of heartbreak with each twist and turn.
Speaking of the collaboration, Ariana said: “The song is a snapshot of the moment you realise you’re both not the same people who entered the relationship anymore. It’s as if you’re watching both of you go through the motions while you know it’s falling apart. The song felt really poignant as a duet, to have a male and female perspective and voice telling the story. Working with RKCB was the best, the song just kind of flowed out of us and being in the studio together was a blast.”
RKCB is made up of Riley Knapp and Casey Barth, who fuse together their diverse layers of electronic, RnB music to create works of art. Having worked with the likes of Erik Hassle, Kacy Hill and Tinashe, their latest offering with Ariana and the Rose is one in a long line of personal tracks which showcase their songwriting and production skills.
Ariana and the Rose has a busy 2017 ahead. Having performed at many festivals in the past, this year she will be gracing the stage at SXSW. She will also independently release her new EP Retrograde on March 24. The 4-track EP is an empowering offering which showcases the evolution of Ariana. We’re excited to see what else 2017 brings this talented artist.
