NewJeans is back with new music. After nearly a year of being on hiatus, the K-pop group has marked their return with their double single album, How Sweet. The highly-anticipated project features the songs “How Sweet” and “Bubble Gum,” along with instrumental versions of each track.
NewJeans first gave fans a preview of their comeback in April with the release of their “Bubble Gum” music video. The visual plays like an old cassette tape, perfectly capturing the Korean act’s 90s aesthetic. During the clip, the group’s five members — MINJI, HANNI, DANIELLE, HAERIN, and HYEIN — act like typical teenage girls by having sleepovers, riding bikes, and running along the beach.
Now, NewJeans has officially made “Bubble Gum” and their new single “How Sweet” available on all streaming platforms through their digital single album.
To celebrate, the group has also unveiled their “How Sweet” music video. During the clip, the girls get into a minor car accident after driving into a sprinkler. Instead of letting it ruin their day, NewJeans make the most of a bad situation by ditching their vehicle and bursting into their song’s choreography on the side of the road. As the sprinkler soaks them, the group brings the “dancing in the rain” metaphor to life — a testament to their positive energy.
Following their latest Korean comeback, NewJeans will debut in Japan on June 21 with their Japanese double single album, Supernatural. The project will feature the lead single of the same name, the new song “Right Now,” and instrumental versions of each track.
Days after the release, the group will head to Japan for their fanmeet concert <Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome>. The event will be held over two days on June 26 and 27.
