Back in September 2023, London’s @sohoplace theatre welcomed a brand new musical – The Little Big Things. Taking the West End by storm, the musical has won over thousands of theatregoers with its heart-warming and life-affirming story of overcoming adversity.
Upon the musical’s premiere, a few songs from the musical were released on streaming platforms to showcase some of The Little Big Things’ most poignant moments. However, now the entire original London cast recording is available to enjoy at home!
Alongside the previously released title track, ‘Guide You’, ‘Feel Like This’, and ‘Miles and Miles’, listeners can now enjoy the musical from start to finish. Some of our highlights include the brilliant opening ‘Never Coming Home’, the vibrant ‘Uma Vida’, and the rap infused ‘Sympathy’. We must also mention the heart-wrenching performances by Jonny Amies and Linzi Hateley on ‘Silence of the Sea’ and ‘One to Seventeen’ respectively, as well as the soaring cast performance on ‘The World is Waiting’.
Nick Butcher and Tom Ling (music and lyrics) have created a magnificent original score which perfectly captures a whole range of emotions. This musical prides itself on being uplifting, but also weaves in enough humour, heartbreaking ballads, and earworm anthems which tick every box. If you’re a fan of pop-style scores then you’ll adore this cast recording.
Based on the Sunday Times best-selling autobiography of the same name, The Little Big Things is the extraordinary true story of Henry Fraser who’s life changed forever in 2009 following a diving accident. A keen sportsman and an academy player with a premiership Rugby club, the accident transformed Henry’s life as he had to adapt to living as a tetraplegic. The musical cleverly tells the story from pre and post-accident Henry’s perspectives as we watch him defy all odds by wheeling himself out of hospital a whole year earlier than predicted.
The Little Big Things plays @sohoplace theatre until March 2nd – make sure you get your tickets now before it’s too late! Want to know more? Here’s everything you need to know about this fantastic British musical.
